It allows you to check for new releases and download the latest development files. You can start it from the NSIS Menu.
The classic NSIS Update version is still available at http://nsisupdate.phpinr.com. It does not support direct updates of the NSIS files (it generates an installer for the latest development version), so it's also not possible to merge your changes. It has a scheduler to automatically update your files and a History Component to revert to a previous version of NSIS, these features are not available in the integrated version.
